Rule #1 in gun safety is that there is _no such thing_ as an unloaded gun! You _always_ treat a gun as if it were loaded. First you make sure it isn’t, then you treat it as if it still is.

Helps avoid a lot of accidents.

The Prophet isn’t stupid in any real sense of the word - few successful persons and even fewer politicians ar. But a certain amount of arrogance often stains the personalities of the latter group in particular.

That’s the deeper level of humor in this picture. Of course he _knew_ the #1 rule. Any soldier does - it’s one of the tenets of basic military training, but he doesn’t care, since he’s so sure that his M16 is unloaded! He lets his arrogance blind him to the wisdom of following what is a very sensible gun safety rule.

That makes it a lot funnier in my eyes than if the clip had been in.

Still, I really dislike the guy but I’m glad he didn’t blow his brains out. I find the pic funny, but it also makes me cringe. You don’t handle a gun like that. Ever. Period and full stop.
