But Maggie it is the same 4 or 5 semi-credible scientists along with dozens who either work in a different field or are retired
A good handful may not even exist at all - try a google for some of them and all the search shows up is this petition itself!

Well - there is “Global Warming Petition Project” signed by 31,478 independent scientists (including 9,029 with PhD’s) stating briefly that we are dealing here with a criminal hoax. I am just one of those scientists - PhD, Engineering, UCLA, majors in thermodynamics and heat&mass transfer. Look it up on the Internet - you creep! Then go pray to your savior Al Gore - a certified loon and con artist!

Here’s an interesting comment (below) on the RealClimate thread about the CATO statement — interesting because of its repeating the litany of supposed “facts” which are claimed to be beyond dispute.

Notice the weasel language:

- “large”; relative to what?;

- “dramatically”? oh, really? (to all of about 388 ppm, when the CO2 has been much higher at other times);

- “more of the Sun’s energy” being retained? (as in how much more, if the purported effect is even occurring?)

- the Earth’s supposed “heat[ing] up”? (by how much? and is the temperature increase global or local? and how accurate is the record, given badly placed reading stations and other problems?);

- “rapid and extreme changes”; oh, REALLY? Do tell.

(The parts of the comment I deleted ask good questions of a preveious commenter re scientific epistemology and the meaning of “fact” in science. However, the good points are then thrown away by assertions of “fact.”)

The increase in atmospheric CO2 follows the increase in temperature as shown by various graphs, so it cannot be a cause, only a result of atmospheric temperature increase. In addition:
1) average atmospheric content of water vapor is around 10,000 ppm (parts per million;
2) average CO2 content in the atmosphere now is about 300 ppm;
3) thermal absortivity of CO2 is about 4 times smaller than that of water vapor;
4) so that an increase of CO2 of 100 ppm will possibly increase the thermal absortivity of the mixture, everything else being equal, by some 1/4 of 1 percent - in other words NEGLIGIBLE.

Marc, do a bit of research and you can see what a fraud the Global Warming Petition Project is - have a look and you’ll see such lumineries as Geri from the Spice Girls!

Well, Pete - it is true that years ago when the first globaloney warming hoax was started the Petition Project was infected by criminal commie-environmemtalists sending their phoney signatures in order to compromise the project. Then these same criminals tried to discredit it (Spice Girls, for example). After that the Petition Project introduced strict controls by checking the degrees claimed by signatories with the cited universities and the list was cleaned up by eliminating the impostors. That cost some money but the list is now cleaned up from sabotaging impostors like Spice Girls and Pete Kayle. We independent scientists could not conceive of such low criminal conduct, but now we are more careful and aware of those criminals.

We all know that weather is not climate - the former happens today and the latter happens over centuries. However, forgetting the present cold wave let us put the present debate in perspective:
1) There was fitst the human-caused catastrophic global cooling scam in the 1970’s; we were urged to disarm our bombers, fill them with soot, and send them over the North Pole to cover the ice with that soot and so increase solar heat input. That would stop new glaciers from spreading southward and prevent them from crushing New York skyscrapers. Somehow that urgent call to action failed to mobilize us to action.
2) Then came the man-caused catastrophic global warming hoax in the 1990’s. We should junk our cars and take up bicycling and walking and engage more busses. Also, we should tax the heck out of oil companies and coal mines, and stop all exploration for oil and gas.
3) After 11 years of substantial cooling we have arrived in the 2000’s to the man-caused climate change flimflam where whatever happens with climate, up or down, we should do all things under 2) and also tax rich countries to help the poor ones, under a United Nations world government.
4) And now we have to deal with the cap & trade power grab that will lead us to prompt nationalization of banks, insurance companies, oil & gas companies, electic utilites, car companies…et cetera, with huge new taxes, new world government, strict population control…etc.
Come to think of of it, certain of these nationalizations have already occurred here. Government-paid scientists are feverishly working on new schemes to realize this socialist-evironmentalist dream, which has in fact turned into a veritable cult of death.
